Dayton Bombers Defeat Wheeling Nailers

Dayton, Ohio -The Dayton Bombers hockey team defeated the Wheeling Nailers, 4-2 in front of 3,221 fans at the Ervin J Nutter Center Friday night.

When the Bombers scored first, less than 3 minutes into the game, it appeared that it was going to be a high-scoring contest. However, that was the only goal for both teams in the first period of play.

The Nailers outplayed the Bombers in the second period when they scored two consecutive goals to take the lead in the game. The Bombers leading scorer, Yanick Tifu, responded by scoring a goal on the Bombers power play to tie the game 2-2 before the end of the second period.

During the third period, play was stopped for an extended duration when one of the Wheeling players was injured and left a pool of blood on the ice. Even though it was an inadvertent stick in the face, the Wheeling players appeared very agitated. However, the Bombers went on to outplay the Nailers and score two more goals to “nail” the victory.
