Calgary Flames Defeat Columbus Blue Jackets

Mikka Kiprusoff had 36 saves and the Calgary Flames defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 Tuesday evening at Nationwide Arena.

Calgary Flames defensemen Adrian Aucion scored the only goal of the first period of the game on a power play. The Flames were 1-of-6 on the power play, while the Blue Jackets were 0-of-6.

Alex Tanguay and Jarome Iginla scored the other 2 goals for Calgary all in the second period. Curtis Glencross scored the only goal for Columbus in the second period to make it 2-1, but Jarome Iginla scored the other goal in the second period to make it 3-1.

The Blue Jackets had 37 shots on goal, while the Flames only had 23 shots on goal. Columbus won 36 face-offs compared to just 23 face-offs won by Calgary. Just by looking at the box score with shots on goal and face-offs won, you can clearly tell the Blue Jackets outplayed Calgary Tuesday night. This loss tonight for the Blue Jackets is a disappointment because of all their hustle tonight.

The Blue Jackets fell to 14-13-6 and the Flames improved to 17-13-5. The Blue Jackets next game is against Los Angeles Friday night at 7PM.
